Choosing a guide
I see this journey of life as a trek up a huge mountain.
Each of us needs to grab the hand of someone ahead of us in order to get through those tricky places where we keep losing our footing. Sometimes, we travel with this guide for a short season and sometimes they are the right fit for much longer.
Choosing your Guide might feel overwhelming, so here are some things to consider as you talk with them:
Have they done their own work? It’s ok to ask them to tell you a little about their own journey to healing.
What kind of training do they have? Unfortunately, it’s easy to call yourself a “Coach” and there are literally no training requirements.
What kind of experience do they have? Are there particular things they specialize in?
Do you feel rushed when talking with them?
Ask your prospective Guide what they believe about how people change. Their answer will reveal a lot!
Do you share the same faith?
